It is clear now that sooner or later the area will face a confrontation that is new of its kind. Today and after the arrival of the Arab spring that is bringing a change that will last for a long time and affect on many actors in the region, anything is possible.

There are four important factors that must be considered while trying to understand the next stage in the situation of the Middle East Post:
1. The Israeli-Palestinian conflict.
2. The ongoing change in the Arab regimes.
3. The Iranian – Western confrontation.
4. The trigger that is needed to start a new kind of confrontation.

Deterrence Power…a power that the Israeli leadership and army considered the main tool it can use to keep on being the strongest country in the Middle East.
Most of the Israeli army former wars were justified by claiming that unless Israel holds the strongest army and continues on achieving what it considered military victory it will never succeed in assuring the security of its people. Those who built this strategy many years ago did not consider a possible change in the regimes of the Arab world and the leadership of countries that in the past used to be allies of Israel.

Hundreds Rally in Unified with the Syrian People in Downtown Beirut

BEIRUT, LEBANON- Hundreds of local students, intellectuals and activists rallied in Beirut as international pressure grows against the Syrian regime.While the exact number of protestors cannot be confirmed, at least 500 people met in Martyrs Square Monday night to protest against Syrian President Bashar al-Assad.
The protest was peaceful as activists chanted, “The Syrian youth want freedom” and held signs that said “No to Silence in Lebanon” and “The Syrian Regime Murders in Syria and Lebanon.”

The Emergence of Syria as a major actor in the Middle East

The short- and long-term stability of the Middle East is governed by the struggle between two rival axes who compete over power and influence.
