A Success in achieving a Prisoners Exchange: What is next?
In the last week both Israel and the Palestinian people were relieved to close the Israeli Soldier Gilad Shalit file and reach an agreement that resulted in releasing hundreds of Palestinian prisoners in exchange to the release of the Israeli soldier Gilad Shalit.

It is clear now that sooner or later the area will face a confrontation that is new of its kind. Today and after the arrival of the Arab spring that is bringing a change that will last for a long time and affect on many actors in the region, anything is possible.
There are four important factors that must be considered while trying to understand the next stage in the situation of the Middle East Post:
1. The Israeli-Palestinian conflict.
2. The ongoing change in the Arab regimes.
3. The Iranian – Western confrontation.
4. The trigger that is needed to start a new kind of confrontation.
The Middle East Changes and Israel’s Denial of it
Deterrence Power…a power that the Israeli leadership and army considered the main tool it can use to keep on being the strongest country in the Middle East.
Most of the Israeli army former wars were justified by claiming that unless Israel holds the strongest army and continues on achieving what it considered military victory it will never succeed in assuring the security of its people. Those who built this strategy many years ago did not consider a possible change in the regimes of the Arab world and the leadership of countries that in the past used to be allies of Israel.
Hundreds Rally in Unified with the Syrian People in Downtown Beirut
BEIRUT, LEBANON- Hundreds of local students, intellectuals and activists rallied in Beirut as international pressure grows against the Syrian regime.While the exact number of protestors cannot be confirmed, at least 500 people met in Martyrs Square Monday night to protest against Syrian President Bashar al-Assad.
The protest was peaceful as activists chanted, “The Syrian youth want freedom” and held signs that said “No to Silence in Lebanon” and “The Syrian Regime Murders in Syria and Lebanon.”

The Israeli Peace Initiative is signed by several Israeli known personalities including Yaakob Perry, Amnon Lipkin, Ami Ayalon, Amram Mitzna, Mosheh Maor and Ephraim Lavie.The Israeli initiators are a group of former directors of Israeli security agencies, businessmen, academics and leaders. The Initiative is not formal and was not supported by the Israeli government.

Despite the initiative being a civilian one, it is significant to deliver its message to the civilian and political levels in the Arab world, both to increase the exposure for Israeli willingness to achieve peace and to receive a response from Arab politicians. Wikileaks and the Mossad, the Palestinian Authority ambition to get a recognition of a Palestinian state, and the rising tension in Gaza
Julian Assange, who is the founder of Wikileaks stated in an interview with AlJazeera that his website will publish thousands of documents that are related to [singlepic id=440 w=320 h=240 float=right]Israel, Second Lebanon War and Al-Mabhouh assassination in Dubai. Assange denied any kind of secret agreement with Israel that prevents the releasing of documents related to the latter.

The Emergence of Syria as a major actor in the Middle East
The short- and long-term stability of the Middle East is governed by the struggle between two rival axes who compete over power and influence. The [singlepic id=398 w=300 h=200 float=right]moderate pro-western axis includes: Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Jordan, Israel and some Gulf states with the patronage of the US and the western powers. The radical pro-Islamic axis is led by Iran which tries to gather Iraq, Lebanon and Qatar and Turkey behind her.
In the midst of these axes stands Syria which holds a key role in the current developments in Lebanon, Iraq and the Israeli-Palestinian peace negotiations.
