Palestinian officials stated for MAAN news agency that German Counselor Angela Merkel called President Mahmoud Abbas to discuss the last Quartet statement that asked both the Palestinian and Israeli sides to return to the negotiations table. The Palestinian source stated that the Palestinian president assured that he would return immediately to the negotiations with Israel once the latter completely stops the building of settlements in the Palestinian territories and agrees on the 1967 borders as a principle for any two states solution.

Israel’s Current Economical Crises’ reason: Occupying the Palestinian lands

IsraeliSettlers

Thousands of Israelis went into the streets in the last weeks demanding for a change in the current Israeli economical situation. Most of the protesters are young Israelis or students who find themselves unable to survive the daily life cost while they face new difficulties everyday.

The main reason of the demonstrations is the high prices of real estate that makes the idea of buying an apartment almost impossible. Not only this but also the monthly rent is also high and the young Israeli generations find themselves unable to afford. The Israeli government offered a new plan to improve the

Goldstone, Israel’s Fantasy World and Israeli Settlers

It seems that the Israeli community is still going towards the right. Actually the Israeli rightists are not like any other rightists known through the world. The [singlepic id=514 w=320 h=240 float=right] Israeli right and extreme parties live in a world of their own; their Fantasy world where they legislate what they want, deny what they want and believe what they want.

There are many Israelis if not the majority that are living in this world nowadays. Those who join the formers in this world justify their decision by saying that they need someone strong and extreme to make them the best deal that can be made with Palestinians. In this world you see people who are completely

An American Veto, an ongoing Israeli occupation and A State of Revolt in the Arab World

The American Veto in the last vote on the Arab demand to condemn the building of Israeli settlements in East Jerusalem and the West Bank showed how [singlepic id=487 w=320 h=240 float=right]difficult it is to reach a peace agreement between the Israelis and the Palestinians. The Palestinian Authority stated immediately after the American Veto that it will re-consider the whole peace process and whether it is realistic to say that a peace resolution can be achieved with the current Israeli leadership.

The Palestinians criticized the American decision to vote against the settlements draft resolution that could have embarrassed Israel and obliged it to stop its

A New Arab Draft Resolution to Condemn the Israeli Settlements

Yesterday, the Arab states handed to the International Security council a draft resolution that condemns the Israeli settlements building in the West Bank [singlepic id=463 w=320 h=240 float=right]and calls to stop it immediately. The Arabs decision to start a new move to try to condemn Israel was made for many reasons that the condemning of Israel would not be a result of it because of the expected American Vito.

Eventhough the American Vito is expected, the Arab leaderships is trying to make any kind of movement that would show the American position towards Israel and make a development in the situation by bringing the International community into the ongoing argument between all the sides of the conflict.

The Palestinian Case…and Israel’s Direction of the Conflict

Some are waiting for the “historical” decisions that the Palestinian authority leadership is supposed to declare in a couple of days. Others are not really moved [singlepic id=388 w=300 h=220 float=right]or waiting for these decisions. Israel continues it’s settlements building through East Jerusalem and the West Bank while the American administration is following up with the developments and hopes that the midterm elections pass successfully.

Prime Minister Netanyahu is supposed to hold a meeting with his government today to discuss the settlements and try to get a support for what is called a

A Settlement on Settlements

- By Gitanjali Bakshi[singlepic id=385 w=320 h=240 float=right]
October, 2010
Everyone involved in the current Israel-Palestine peace negotiations waited with bated breath for the 26th of September – the day the 10-month Israeli freeze on settlement building expired. Would Netanyahu extend the moratorium as a gesture of sincerity towards peace negotiations? Would Abbas be able to save face among the Palestinians if he didn’t? Will Obama’s effort to attend to a two-state solution actually amount to something? Or is this the end? The answers to these questions will set the course of Israel-Palestine relations for the next 12 months.
