The Israeli Peace Initiative – By Arik Segal

On April 6th, several prominent Israeli figures drafted the “Israeli Peace Initiative” and proposed it to the Israeli government, with the purpose of promoting [singlepic id=529 w=320 h=240 float=right] a regional peace agreement in the Middle East. The authors and signatories are former security chiefs, former IDF chiefs, former politicians, journalists, leading businessmen and entrepreneurs, academics, scientists, artists, social activists and others.
Despite the initiative being a civilian one, it is significant to deliver its message to the civilian and political levels in the Arab world, both to increase the exposure for Israeli willingness to achieve peace and to receive a response from Arab politicians. Such response will push Israeli leaders to give a serious

Racism and Radicalism In Israel

Since the September 11th attacks on the United States of America, the world witnessed a wide campaign against Islam and Arabs in which they are accused of [singlepic id=452 w=320 h=240 float=right]terrorism and radicalism. Ariel Sharon’s Israeli leadership succeeded in turning the Palestinians from demanders of freedom into terrorists and convinced the world that the Palestinians are only thirsty for blood, killing and are anti-Semites.
Today the whole situation changed and the world is more convinced of the importance of ending the Palestinian suffering by giving them their rights but is this happening in the Israeli community too?

Lately the expressions of racism against Arabs, Palestinians and Africans are increasing within Israel while the Israeli people is watching and sometimes

The Stranger in Thine Midst

This morning Netanyahu’s cabinet approved the construction of a camp by the Egyptian border to reign in and crack down on the swelling wave [singlepic id=423 w=320 h=240 float=right]threatening Israeli jobs, a wave of illegal migrants that we must stop because of the harsh implications for Israel’s character”, stated Netanyahu. The cabinet’s decision to crack down on migrant workers by placing them in a detention camp will have various deleterious and far-reaching consequences.

What Israeli character is Netanyahu talking about?  No longer do Israelis toil in the fields to make the dry earth bloom.  The Israeli in the fields is an

Palestinian Refugees…those who must stay in our minds and hearts

Many politicians find it easy to say that the Palestinian refugees case can be easily solved; compensation or a partial return to the West Bank would be [singlepic id=285 w=320 h=240 float=right] enough. Most of those politicians whether Palestinian or other did not pay a visit to one of the Palestinian refugees camps to see the real situation of these people.

The Palestinian refugees were forced to leave their homes and lands at the time the Israeli state was established in 1948 and later when Israel occupied the

An Arab Creativity in Betsalel Graduation 2010

[singlepic id=273 w=320 h=240 float=right]The Betsalel Academy has celebrated graduating its students for the year 2010 last week. The ceremony included a show of the artistic and fashion works that the students made. An interesting phenonmenon that I saw in the ceremony was the Palestinian Arabs success and creativity in making fashion and artistic works that represented their history and feelings.

An Arab Student Nada Nafar made a seam garment that looked different and interesting. Once Nada was asked about her project she replied by saying: The cloth embraces the Human body, the house embraces the Human and the space embraces the house, the human, the culture and the identity.

The Israeli people began to celebrate their sixty two Independence Day stating that East Jerusalem is a part of the united capital of Israel and that Israel must [singlepic id=173 w=320 h=240 float=right] only depend on itself in facing the dangers which it faces. The two statements were made by Prime Minister Netanyahu in an interview he made with the BBC and the yearly speech which is made for the memory of the Israelis who fall in the wars Israel goes through.
