By: P John

It was the German philosopher Hegel who pointed out that what experience and history teach is that ‘nations and governments never learn anything from history or act upon any lessons they might have drawn from it’. Two centuries on from Hegel’s remarks, it may be worth asking if history can teach us anything as far as the core issues facing the Middle East are concerned. Well, here’s one chapter from the history books which should concentrate the minds of today.

Peace Process? What Peace Process?

Let’s get straight to the point.

Whatever the euphoria surrounding the recent prisoner exchange and Gadaffi’s death, the Middle East Peace Process is still out there and nothing is happening. Indeed if international pressure forces the two sides back to the negotiating table, with the same cast of characters and no new ideas, the whole peace process could find itself completely dead and buried.

Why a Palestinian State at September?

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

A lot of discussions are taking place these days between the Palestinians about the Palestinian state that the PLO wants to ask for at September from the United Nations General Assembly and Security Council.

Many do not understand what are the outcomes of such an International recognition of a Palestinian state while others argue about the 1967 borders that this possible recognition will take as the borders of the Palestinian state. I read a lot of what the young Palestinians have been writing and listen to many talking about their frustration.

Netanyahu’s Government Laws: Pure Fascism

Benyamin Netanyahu

It seems that the current Israeli government is obsessed to pass as much laws as possible until everything is controlled and no act is allowed to protest against the Israeli right projects. Israel Prime Minister declared today without any hesitation that he supported the law and wanted it to pass. According to him, Netanyahu sees in the new law as a line that is drawn between what is acceptable and what is not. Netanyahu’s prejudice made him say that if he didn’t approve the law it would

Netanyahu came back home while thinking that [singlepic id=544 w=320 h=240 float=right]he made a great diplomatic achievement. His face showed expressions as if he finally found a solution for the long period of criticism against the current Israeli government.

The uniqueness in his speech is the ability and skill Netanyahu had in separating the Arab revolutionary movement to make a change in the Arab world from the Palestinians demand to end the Israeli occupation. Netanyahu talked about the Arabs movement in Egypt and Tunisia and compared it to the

Disagreement between the PA and the American Administration

It seems that the disagreement between the U.S administration and the Palestinian Authority is clear now. In his remarks to Newsweek, Palestinian President[singlepic id=531 w=320 h=240 float=right] Mahmoud Abbas seemed desperate and angry of the change in President Obama’s policy with the Palestinians. President Abbas said that Barack Obama led him on and criticized the American administration for the sudden change in its position about the negotiations between Israel and the Palestinians.

President Mahmoud Abbas said that President Obama was the one who suggested a full Israeli settlement freeze in the West Bank but failed to oblige officials
