Al Rai Kuwaiti newspaper reported that Israel is preparing itself to attack Hezbullah targets inside Syria. According to the newspaper, Western sources stated that Israel is increasing its army forces on its northern border with Syria and Lebanon. In the beginning of September President Mahmoud Abbas, Prime Minister Netanyahu, King Abdullah, President Mubarak and President Obama are supposed to meet in order to declare the beginning of a new round of Direct talks between the Israelis and the Palestinians.

The negotiations are supposed to end in one year and bring a result that is supposed to give solutions for all the cases that Israel and the Palestinians do not agree on. Following the Iranian agreement on the nuclear fuel swap deal, Iranian President Ahmadi Najad asked from the world powers to consider the Iranian agreement a good Iranian intention that should lead to new talks with Iran.
The deal states that Iran agrees to swap 1200 kg of its low enriched uranium for higher enriched nuclear fuel that will be used in the Iranian medical research reactor. Turkey will host the exchange and will supervise on the whole process. The efforts of both Brazil and Turkey resulted in the Iranian agreement which is still not clear. Read more…

Recently President Medvedev visited Syria and met President Bashar Alassad and Hamas leader Khaled Meshal. President Medvedev stated that joining Hamas in the peace process and ending the tragedy in Gaza are things which the international community must work on more. While U.S officials have criticized advertisements which were made in favor of Israel’s position on Jerusalem, the Syrian President Bashar Alassad is visiting Egypt to discuss many matters including the possibility of a war between Syria and Israel.
The supporting advertisements were made by the president of the World Jewish Congress Ronald Lauder and Nobel peace prize Laureate Elie Wiesel. Once a great power decides to invade another country it makes sure to find someone who will be able to lead the country occupied later. Not only new occupied countries but also newly formed states could face such external effect in deciding who will become the leader.
In its war in Iraq and Afghanistan the United States did not succeed in preparing the countries for the after war period. The American intelligence and political teams thought that the Iraqi opposition which has been outside Iraq since tens of years will succeed in controlling the country after a complete American occupation which was supposed to be ended shortly after the Iraqis take the lead. Israeli airstrikes resulted in killing at least four Palestinians in Gaza in the last 24 hours. One of those who were killed was a 15 years old boy and many were trapped under the ruins of the buildings which were destroyed. The Palestinian movements reacted by firing more than nine missiles into the Israeli areas.

The situation began to develop after the first Israeli attempt to assassinate a leader of one of the Palestinian movements claiming that he was on his way to launch missiles into Israel. Swedish Presidency of the EU calls Israel’s plan to build hundreds of new housing units in Jerusalem neighborhood ‘illegal under international law,’ adding, ‘such activities also prejudge the outcome of final status negotiations.’ Moscow says move ‘unacceptable’

Israel stated yesterday that more than 900 units will be built in one of its settlements in East Jerusalem. Britain, France and the United States criticized the decision and considered it an obstacle in the way of peace between Israel and the Palestinians.
