Iranian threat…an Israeli strategy to gain time for other causes?
It is still not clear whether we will witness an armed confrontation this year between Iran and the West or not. Analysts continue to write and talk about this matter while no one can give a real clear answer. There are many ongoing events which effect on the choices that the West and Israel have in order to prevent Iran from moving forward in its projects. The Iranians continue to defend their position by stating that it is legitimate to obtain nuclear capabilities especially that there is no proof for any kind of Iranian intentions to obtain nuclear weapons.
The Iranian Nuclear Strategy – an Unconventional Approach
The uncertainty about the Iranian nuclear strategy has caused great tension in the Middle East and has re-centred the foreign policy agendas of world’s biggest[singlepic id=399 w=300 h=200 float=right] powers. An article written in January 2010 by Ephraim Kam and Ephraim Asculai from the Institute of National Security Studies predicts the timeline for the Iranian nuclear capability and reveals unprecedented, updated information about the Iranian nuclear program. After analyzing this article and current geo-political realities, I argue that Iran has stopped the progress of its nuclear military program on the verge of nuclear capability and can resume it at any time when a political decision about it will be taken.
Iran agrees on a nuclear fuel swap deal with Turkey
Following the Iranian agreement on the nuclear fuel swap deal, Iranian President Ahmadi Najad asked from the world powers to consider the Iranian [singlepic id=191 w=260 h=180 float=right] agreement a good Iranian intention that should lead to new talks with Iran.
The deal states that Iran agrees to swap 1200 kg of its low enriched uranium for higher enriched nuclear fuel that will be used in the Iranian medical research reactor. Turkey will host the exchange and will supervise on the whole process. The efforts of both Brazil and Turkey resulted in the Iranian agreement which is still not clear.
Will Israel attack Iran?
The Iranian attempts to obtain nuclear powers became the main issue which the world is trying to deal with recently. Israel and the United States are the two [singlepic id=172 w=320 h=240 float=right]leading countries in convincing the world that Iran should not obtain any kind of nuclear powers without conditions and supervision.
Since the negotiations began Iran continues to insist that it is completely legal and even a right for any country to work for creating nuclear projects for peaceful use. Israel worried about Syria Armament
Israel accused Syria of giving Hezbullah new missiles which are considered a new threat on Israel’s security. Syria denied the accusations and considered it [singlepic id=170 w=320 h=240 float=right] an Israeli attempt to move the eyes from its Nuclear weapons and to affect the American Syrian relations.
Robert Gibbs stated that the white house is worried about the developed weapons which Israel claims that Syria has given to Hezbullah. The American foreign ministry also stated that if the information about the missiles were right then it would affect the Lebanese security.
Lula backs Iran’s nuclear programme
Brazil’s president has offered his backing for Tehran’s controversial nuclear programme.
Speaking at a joint news conference in the capital Brasilia on Monday after holding talks with Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, his visiting Iranian[singlepic id=93 w=320 h=240 float=right] counterpart, Luis Inacio Lula da Silva said Brazil backed Iran’s quest for “peaceful nuclear energy in full respect of international accords”.
He urged Ahmadinejad to “continue contacts with interested countries for a just and balanced solution on the nuclear issue in Iran”.
Iran,U.S.,and Israel…an Ongoing Dilemma
The Iranians stated that they have sent a message to the European Union as a response to their last offer. This message didn’t include any kind of an answer about the nuclear program that Iran is working on. In a smart way the Iranians are trying to keep an opened channel with the world so they won’t lose all the diplomatic channels. World means specifically the West which is struggling with Iran and trying to offer it a good collection of privileges and rewards in order to stop their nuclear program.
