Israel admits to organ thefts

Israel has admitted that it harvested organs from the dead bodies of Palestinians and Israelis in the 1990s, without permission from their families.
The admission follows the release of an interview with Jehuda Hiss, the former head of Israel’s forensic institute, in which he said that workers at the institute had harvested skin, corneas, heart valves and bones from Israelis, Palestinians and foreign workers.

Israel continues to prevent Palestinian activities and Judaize Jerusalem

In the last couple of days Jerusalem witnessed several events and clashes between the Israeli police and Palestinian and Peace activists. More than thirty five Palestinians and Peace activists were arrested because they participated in several activities made against the Israeli settlements and the Arab cultural activities in the city.[singlepic id=113 w=320 h=240 float=right]

The Israeli police claimed that none of these activities were authorized and therefore all of those who participate in it were acting against the law. The activities which were made included dancing, peaceful demonstrations, and demands to give the Palestinian residents of the city a chance to live normally without being depressed and prevented from expressing their opinion.

Shortly after European Union Ministers announced their support for the division of Jerusalem between Israel and a future Palestinian state on Tuesday, the U.S. State Department issued a statement saying that the fate of Jerusalem should only be determined by Israel and the Palestinians in talks.

European Union foreign ministers have agreed that Jerusalem should be the capital of both Israel and a future Palestinian state following two days of talks in Brussels.
The ministers dropped an earlier proposal by the Swedish EU presidency to explicitly support the idea of East Jerusalem as the eventual capital of Palestine.

Report: Internal Hamas row holding up Shalit deal

The London-based Arabic language daily Al Hayat reported Wednesday that the Hamas leadership is split over a recent Israeli proposal that could result in a prisoner swap aimed at securing the release of captive Israel Defense Forces soldier Gilad Shalit, channel 10 reported.[singlepic id=92 w=320 h=240 float=right]
Shalit was captured by Gaza militants in a cross border raid in 2006. Hamas, the rulers of the Gaza Strip, have demanded the release of hundreds of Palestinian prisoners held by Israel in exchange for the Shalit’s freedom.

Talks ‘progress’ over Shalit swap

Shimon Peres, Israel’s president, has said there has been “progress” in efforts to free Gilad Shalit, the Israeli soldier captured by Hamas three years ago.
The disclosure by Peres was made after he met Hosni Mubarak, Egypt’s president, in Cairo on Monday.
