Recently President Medvedev visited Syria and met President Bashar Alassad and Hamas leader Khaled Meshal. President Medvedev stated that joining Hamas in the peace process and ending the tragedy in Gaza are things which the international community must work on more. The Russians have been working recently to become closer to Iran, Syria and even Hezbollah.

Once a great power decides to invade another country it makes sure to find someone who will be able to lead the country occupied later. Not only new occupied countries but also newly formed states could face such external effect in deciding who will become the leader.
In its war in Iraq and Afghanistan the United States did not succeed in preparing the countries for the after war period. The American intelligence and political teams thought that the Iraqi opposition which has been outside Iraq since tens of years will succeed in controlling the country after a complete American occupation which was supposed to be ended shortly after the Iraqis take the lead. Yesterday Dubai police presented several videos showing ten men and one woman who were involved in the assassination of Hamas leader Al-Mabhouh. According to Dubai police, the 11 assassins left Dubai and are currently under an international hunt to try to catch them.
Other News sources talked about two men who were handed from Jordan to Dubai because they are suspected of being involved in the assassination. One of them is said to be a security officer in the Palestinian authorities. A spokesman of President Mahmoud Abbas denied the accusations and claimed that Hamas is suffering from serious security breaches. Read more…

Israeli airstrikes resulted in killing at least four Palestinians in Gaza in the last 24 hours. One of those who were killed was a 15 years old boy and many were trapped under the ruins of the buildings which were destroyed. The Palestinian movements reacted by firing more than nine missiles into the Israeli areas.

The situation began to develop after the first Israeli attempt to assassinate a leader of one of the Palestinian movements claiming that he was on his way to launch missiles into Israel. The Palestinians reacted by firing back then Israel attacked Gaza strip again leaving another three Palestinians killed and several wounded. Read more…

One never knows what to say about the on again, off again negotiations to free Gilad Shalit, an abducted Israeli soldier, and the seemingly unending media stories announcing an imminent deal.

As part of a prisoner exchange for Shalit, the Islamist militant group is reportedly demanding that Israel release Barghouti, who is serving five consecutive life sentences in an Israeli prison for his role in terror attacks. The London-based Arabic language daily Al Hayat reported Wednesday that the Hamas leadership is split over a recent Israeli proposal that could result in a prisoner swap aimed at securing the release of captive Israel Defense Forces soldier Gilad Shalit, channel 10 reported.
Shalit was captured by Gaza militants in a cross border raid in 2006. Hamas, the rulers of the Gaza Strip, have demanded the release of hundreds of Palestinian prisoners held by Israel in exchange for the Shalit’s freedom. Read more…

Kadima’s No. 2 MK consults legal experts on options for promotion of his plan for Palestinian statehood
