Why Should We Care About Gaza?

November 25th, 2009

January 2009

Israel’s continued strikes on the Gaza strip threaten to derail peace processes in Iraq, Egypt, Lebanon and Syria. In this article, Gitanjali Bakshi presses upon the importance of addressing the Israel Palestine conflict if we ever want to see a more tranquil Middle East.

It seemed as though potentials for peace in what many consider to be the epicentre of the region had taken a hard enough blow with: the collapse of Hamas-Fatah peace talks in Cairo, a break down of a six month cease fire between Israel and Hamas, rioting by Israeli settlers in Hebron, a Read more…

Developments in the Middle East and President Obama’s New Policy

February 1st, 2009

The future of any kind of achievement in the peace process between Israel and the Palestinians is not clear. Although the new American administration supports the two states solution, it seems not realistic to think of achieving it currently. Many of the American journals talked about the substantial choice which President Obama will have to choose to imply in his policy towards the Middle East. Read more…

The Real Reason behind the Israeli-Palestinian Conflict

January 22nd, 2009

Many people from both sides of the conflict prefer not to admit that religion is behind the Israeli-Arab Conflict. Both prefer showing other reasons in order to keep God away from the conflict. One can notice that it is even preferred to call it the Israeli-Palestinian conflict or the Israeli-Arab conflict instead of calling it the Jewish-Islamic conflict. Read more…

An Israeli Cease-Fire or a break for a while?

January 17th, 2009

Tonight Israel declared a cease-fire from one side in Gaza. Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert said that the Israel army achieved victory in its war and the Hamas still does not recognize the damage that was caused for it. Prime Minister Olmert also said that this cease-fire will not include the withdraw of the Israeli army from Gaza and that these forces will stay until Israel sees that Hamas will not launch missiles on the south. Prime Minister Olmert said that if the Palestinian movements will attack any part of the south of Israel, the army will continue its actions in Gaza. He also said that the decision of cease-fire came as a response to the Egyptian president Mubarak demand. Read more…

War Achievements..or Illusions

January 14th, 2009

The decision to go to war that was made by the Israeli leadership should be analyzed in order to know the real reasons behind it and the results that the Israeli people was promised to achieve after war. Is there any chance left to reach a Peace Agreement in the Middle East?

November 24th, 2008

As we all know, the Israeli Palestinian conflict is considered the center of all other conflicts, violence, and chaos in the Middle East. Beside that, the instability in the Middle East is the reason for any international instability or chaos either it is in the economical field, or security and wars. A good question to ask these days is whether really there is any chance left for reaching a peace agreement between the Israelis and the Palestinians. Read more…

End of an Odyssey By Jeff Halper

September 4th, 2008

Now, a few days after my release from jail in the wake of my trip to Gaza, I’m posting a few notes to sum things up.

First, the mission of the Free Gaza Movement to break the Israeli siege proved a success beyond all expectations. Our reaching Gaza and leaving has created a free and regular channel between Gaza and the outside world. It has done so because it has forced the Israeli government to make a clear policy declaration: that it is not occupying Gaza and Read more…

A Ceize Fire in Gaza?

June 20th, 2008

Today at six am a seize fire commenced between Israel and Hamas in Gaza. Actually while I was writing this I remembered that I did write the same words in the past and believed at that time that it was to be a serious seize fire that proved in the end to fail. The Israelis agreed to seize fire only for one or two reasons which could be to improve the negotiations situation about the kidnapped Israeli soldier Gelad Shaleet and beside that to have a break from the falling rockets on its south.
