Israeli airstrikes resulted in killing at least four Palestinians in Gaza in the last 24 hours. One of those who were killed was a 15 years old boy and many were trapped under the ruins of the buildings which were destroyed. The Palestinian movements reacted by firing more than nine missiles into the Israeli areas.

The situation began to develop after the first Israeli attempt to assassinate a leader of one of the Palestinian movements claiming that he was on his way to launch missiles into Israel. Six Palestinians were killed in two separate incidents by the Israeli forces in Gaza and the West Bank. Three of the Palestinians were assassinated in Nablus at the West Bank. According to Israeli sources, Ghasan Abu Sharkh, Raed Sarkaji and Anan Suboh took part in the last attack which resulted in killing an Israeli settler in the West Bank. Read more…

                Tonight Israel declared a cease-fire from one side in Gaza. Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert said that the Israel army achieved victory in its war and the Hamas still does not recognize the damage that was caused for it. Prime Minister Olmert also said that this cease-fire will not include the withdraw of the Israeli army from Gaza and that these forces will stay until Israel sees that Hamas will not launch missiles on the south. Prime Minister Olmert said that if the Palestinian movements will attack any part of the south of Israel, the army will continue its actions in Gaza. He also said that the decision of cease-fire came as a response to the Egyptian president Mubarak demand. Read more…

                Today Qatar received an emergency Arab summit that was called “The Gaza emergency summit” to discuss the ongoing war in Gaza. A lot of the Arab countries participated in this summit including many Islamic countries such as Indonesia and Iran. Hamas leader Khalid Mashaal participated in the summit while the Palestinian President Abbas, Saudi Arabia, and Egypt boycotted it. Read more…

            The decision to go to war that was made by the Israeli leadership should be analyzed in order to know the real reasons behind it and the results that the Israeli people was promised to achieve after war. The Israeli leadership stated in the beginning of the war on Gaza that Israel is acting to protect its citizens from the missiles that Hamas launches on the south of the state.

In one of her last statements, Tsipi Levni demanded from the Israeli leadership to reconsider the choice of invading Gaza to weaken Hamas power. Today at six am a seize fire commenced between Israel and Hamas in Gaza. Actually while I was writing this I remembered that I did write the same words in the past and believed at that time that it was to be a serious seize fire that proved in the end to fail. The Israelis agreed to seize fire only for one or two reasons which could be to improve the negotiations situation about the kidnapped Israeli soldier Gelad Shaleet and beside that to have a break from the falling rockets on its south.
