Israeli and Egyptian leaders have met in Cairo to discuss US-backed efforts to relaunch peace talks between Israel and the Palestinians.
Neither Binyamin Netanyahu, Israel’s prime minister, nor Hosni Mubarak, Egypt’s president, spoke to journalists after the meeting on Tuesday, though the Israeli PM’s office said “talks were in-depth and friendly”. Read more…

Secretary Hillary Clinton made several statements in the last couple of days while visiting Israel and Egypt. Clinton started its tour by saying that it is impossible to accept the idea of putting any kind of Palestinian conditions before negotiating with Israel. Clinton also stated that Israel do not have any law background to use in order to freeze the ongoing settlement building since it already issued permissions for them.

Today the Palestinian intelligence declared that they captured an armed Hamas group that was planning to launch chaotic actions in Hebron in the West Bank. The Mahmoud Abbas administration considered this action a serious incident that comes in the time they are trying to start a new round of negotiations with Hamas’ leaders in Egypt.
