As many of you know in the past the Arab peoples were not given a chance to express their opinion and thoughts freely. Today some say that the situation is changing towards a better one and others consider the situation still not good enough to say that there is a freedom of speech in the Arab world. It is important to say that the situation is not the same in the whole Arab countries and that there is a kind of knowledge which the Arab peoples are obtaining because of the globalization and education which many are given a chance to get today. Obama invited Netanyahu to the White House after the Israeli PM landed in the US [Reuters]
The latest attempt by the US president to salvage the Middle East peace talks appears to have come to nothing after his meeting with Israel’s prime minister ended with only a brief statement from the White House.
Binyamin Netanyahu left the White House on Monday after spending an hour and forty minutes inside with Barack Obama, without making the customary public appearance with his host. Read more…

The mystery surrounding the 2004 death of Yasser Arafat, at the Percy military hospital near Paris, continues to hover over Fatah and the Palestinian Authority. The sixth Fatah convention on Thursday made no official decision about his death. But more than 2,000 delegates rose to applaud the late leader’s nephew Nasser al-Kidwa, former PLO ambassador to the UN, when he demanded the congress officially denounce Israel for being behind the “assassination” of the late PA chairman. The Palestinian Fatah faction may oppose recognizing Israel as a Jewish state and consider opening a strategic dialogue with Iran, according to details from a proposed draft of its political platform that were leaked to the Arab press on Saturday.

Strategic Foresight Group report on Cost of Conflict in the Middle East was presented at the United Nations Alliance of Civilizations Forum held in Istanbul on April 7. The discussion resulted in concrete ideas for a way forward:

(1) There was a consensus that the Israeli settlements in the West Bank should be frozen and check-points should be reduced. The Arab League Secretary General said that the Arab states would respond constructively if there was a credible action plan to change situation on the ground with regards to settlements and check-points. Sometimes we find ourselves losing what we want to hold or we know that we are about to lose something that we considered not important but once we feel that we are about to lose it we convince ourselves that we want it. We do not move to gain it because something inside us stops us from doing so and at the same time we feel that we want to do something in order to hold it but still we do not. سَتـَخْطـُفُ الحرية ُابصاركم كما خطفتْ بصري!!!

ذهبتُ باحثا لارى ما هي خيالستان،و الملكيات، وبحثت عن معاني الحرية. ولكن لم اجد الكثير عن كلمة خيالستان ولكنها وبالصدفة كانت ارض خيال وما الى ذلك ، اما المليكات فمفردها مليكة وهي تصغير لملكة، ولكن ليس هذا ما رأيته، ففي خيالستان هنّ نساءٌ وصلنَ من الوصفِ حدَ الملائكةِ ليسوا ملائكة ً ولا أناس. وبحثت عن معنى الحرية وبعدما امعنت في خفايا كلمةٍ استمالتْ قلبَ كل اسيرٍ وسجين ٍوجدتُ ويا ليتني لم اجد، اننا بشرٌ نعبد الحرية. اي نعم ان الحرية معنى من اسمى المعاني ولكن إن نتحلى بها خير من أن نعبدها، فالحرية ليست بالافعال التي تأتي من وراء الستار . فكما قال جبران عن الحرية “الا ما تسمونه حرية انما هو بالحقيقة اشد هذه السلاسل قوة وإن كانت حلقاته تلمع في نور الشمس وتخطف ابصاركم” كما خطفت ابصاري المليكة Read more…

كلّ دهشتي واستغرابي وجنوني رحل. شيء ٌفي هذه البلد يريحني ويُطـَمْئِنُنِي، لا اشعر بأني غريبٌ عنها ولا يندهشُ احدٌ من سكانها عندما يراني. وبما انني عدت وما زالت الورقة بيدي بحثتُ عن المُلـَـيْكة فذهبت الى مكان التقاءنا فوجدتها كانت تلبس ثوبا ابيضا يلمع ُفي حقول ِالقمحْ، ذهبتُ إليها ماشيا وكأني أعرفها منذ ُزَمنْ، خـَطـَواتي بطيئة ًمع ابتسامةٍ هزيلة، وهي تبتسم بخجل، مشيت وخطوت حتى صار ظلي على التماس بها، وقلت لها: ما اسمك؟ فتكرمت عليّ بابتسامةٍ كابتسامةِ هلال ٍمعكوفة فيها الجمالُ المكتملْ وفيها تـَهَكمٌ بسيطْ وقالت: حُـــرْيـــّة. ثم اختفت!.
