The situation in East Jerusalem is not stable. More than two thousand Israeli policemen were brought into the city in order to protect the Israeli ceremonies of opening a new temple in the old city. Israeli rightist movements invited Israelis to come and support their demand in putting a cornerstone of the temple inside the Aqsa mosque area.

Recently East Jerusalem and most of the West Bank territories witnessed violent clashes between the Israeli police and Palestinian protestors. Eleven students who study at University of California, Irvine interrupted the Israeli ambassador Michael Oren while he was giving a speech about Israel’s policy at the university. The result was that they were immediately taken out of the hall, charged with disrupting the peace, and might face suspension or expulsion from the university.

Yesterday Dubai police presented several videos showing ten men and one woman who were involved in the assassination of Hamas leader Al-Mabhouh. According to Dubai police, the 11 assassins left Dubai and are currently under an international hunt to try to catch them.
Other News sources talked about two men who were handed from Jordan to Dubai because they are suspected of being involved in the assassination. One of them is said to be a security officer in the Palestinian authorities. A spokesman of President Mahmoud Abbas denied the accusations and claimed that Hamas is suffering from serious security breaches. Read more…

Prime Minister Benyamin Netanyahu stated tonight that any possible Palestinian state in the future will have to be surrounded from the east and the west by the Israeli army. According to Netanyahu the “Palestinian state” will also have Israeli army soldiers on its borders with Jordan in order to prevent weapons smuggling into the West Bank. In his speech he said nothing about Gaza as a part of the Future Palestinian state but assured that Israel will never make another mistake by leaving the Palestinian state without an Israeli surveillance. The situation in the Middle East keeps on developing towards the worst. Iraq is still in war although many try to convince the world that democracy has been achieved. Afghanistan is under attack and nothing until this moment has been achieved in order to say that the situation is becoming better. The Israeli Palestinian conflict is similar to the situation which we call silence before the storm. Iran’s crisis with the west is becoming more complicated every day and the later threatens to start serious economical sanctions if Iran does not forget about its nuclear projects. Read more…

Israeli airstrikes resulted in killing at least four Palestinians in Gaza in the last 24 hours. One of those who were killed was a 15 years old boy and many were trapped under the ruins of the buildings which were destroyed. The Palestinian movements reacted by firing more than nine missiles into the Israeli areas.

The situation began to develop after the first Israeli attempt to assassinate a leader of one of the Palestinian movements claiming that he was on his way to launch missiles into Israel. Six Palestinians were killed in two separate incidents by the Israeli forces in Gaza and the West Bank. Three of the Palestinians were assassinated in Nablus at the West Bank. According to Israeli sources, Ghasan Abu Sharkh, Raed Sarkaji and Anan Suboh took part in the last attack which resulted in killing an Israeli settler in the West Bank. Read more…

In the last couple of days Jerusalem witnessed several events and clashes between the Israeli police and Palestinian and Peace activists. More than thirty five Palestinians and Peace activists were arrested because they participated in several activities made against the Israeli settlements and the Arab cultural activities in the city.

The Israeli police claimed that none of these activities were authorized and therefore all of those who participate in it were acting against the law. The activities which were made included dancing, peaceful demonstrations, and demands to give the Palestinian residents of the city a chance to live normally without being depressed and prevented from expressing their opinion. The London-based Arabic language daily Al Hayat reported Wednesday that the Hamas leadership is split over a recent Israeli proposal that could result in a prisoner swap aimed at securing the release of captive Israel Defense Forces soldier Gilad Shalit, channel 10 reported.
Shalit was captured by Gaza militants in a cross border raid in 2006. Hamas, the rulers of the Gaza Strip, have demanded the release of hundreds of Palestinian prisoners held by Israel in exchange for the Shalit’s freedom. Read more…
