Academic Research: The relationship between the civilian and security realms in the Palestinian Authority (PA) from the Oslo Agreement to Hamas’s takeover of Gaza – By Ziad Khalil Abu Zayyad
This is the first Academic Research which the Middle East Post publishes on it pages. The research studies the Palestinian security forces situation since the signing of Oslo agreement and until the Hamas take over of Gaza.
Professor Oren Barrack about the seminar paper: “This is an interesting paper that discusses the relationship between the civilian and security
realms in the Palestinian Authority (PA) from the Oslo Agreement to Hamas’s takeover of Gaza. Theoretically, it employs Huntington’s book from 1957 on civil-military relations and Barak & Sheffer’s “security network” approach. Empirically, the paper draw mostly on interviews conducted with former PA security officials. The paper reads well, though there are, occasionally, some errata. It also presents several interesting insights regarding the civilsecurity
relationship in the Palestinian Territories during the Oslo period, particularly
regarding the lack of professionalism and the informal ties that existed between security officials and Fatah, businessmen, and foreign actors and the way they obstructed “objective” civilian control there, in addition to Israel’s involvement. This helps explain the weakness of the Palestinian security apparatuses in that period.

Israel prepares itself for both Peace Talks and a War in the Region
Al Rai Kuwaiti newspaper reported that Israel is preparing itself to attack Hezbullah targets inside Syria. According to the newspaper, [singlepic id=352 w=280 h=200 float=left] Western sources stated that Israel is increasing its army forces on its northern border with Syria and Lebanon. The Israeli air force has made several flights over Syria and Lebanon to examine Hezbullah targets to prepare to attack them.
دولة المؤسسات…مصلحة وطنية عليا ام حل بديل للقضية الفلسطينية؟
يتردد مصطلح دولة المؤسسات في هذه الايام على لسان العديد من 
الفلسطينيين الذين يتسائلون عن معنى هذا المصطلح و ان كان يعبر عن حقيقة ما يريده الشعب الفلسطيني بعد صراع طويل مع الاحتلال من اجل نيل حرية الشعب الفلسطيني.

Ilan Pappe, a professor of History at the University of Exeter starts his introduction in the book by saying: “ It is first and foremost an eyewitness account of 
an everyman and a true humanist. He was there during the Operation “Cast Lead” and so his daily dispatches came directly from the killing fields of Gaza, and are therefore free of any media distortion or manipulation.”
Gaza Stay Human is an amazing book that introduces the twenty-two day Israeli offensive against Gaza strip in December 2008 and January 2009.
