Comment on Growing Pain
Ruth,
I appreciate the fact that you care enough to write to us, and read what what we write back.
I would reccomend trying to read and hear out things in different terms- and not in terms of right and wrong. Because if that’s the way you want to examine the situation between us and the Palestinians, then you’re headed towards a dead-end. You are not allowing the conversation to be lead by anything but muscles Vs. muscles. Strength Vs. strength. And that’s what I meant by my lesson of compassion: being able to see beyond our need to prove we’re the right one, or the one’s who deseve whatever. Because only when I started allowing myself to be vulnerable, as a Jew and as an Israeli, and stopped trying to justify and argue my right to do and have, I found compassion towards the Palestinians in this whole messed up conflict.
Maybe if stop waiting for Ziad to agree he’s wrong, and maybe try to help him understand you – you’ll be able to actually proceed and have a conversation that actually teaches you both things.
That’s just my perspective, you’re intitle to take whatever you feel is good for u.
