Israel ignores the International Pressure

January 7th, 2009 > Ziad Khalil Abu Zayyad

Israel ignores the International Pressure and continues the War on Gaza. Yesterday Israel attacked a school building with missiles that resulted in killing forty Palestinian civilians. The building works under the supervision Israel ignores the International Pressure 32 300x100 22 0 of the United Nations that denied any existence of armed men inside it. Israel said that this attack was made because it had intelligence information about the existence of armed Palestinian men in the school.

The live pictures of the young children that died in this attack were broadcasted around the world. An international pressure was made on Israel to stop its actions in Gaza, but the latter refused to give its word to stop its actions. The Security Council of the United Nations decided to postpone its decision concerning a second suggested Arab paper to stop the Israeli attack on Gaza and the missiles on the south of Israel. It seems that the reason to postpone the decision is because of the American disagreement.

Elected President Barak Obama stated that he is anxious for all the civilian victims that are falling in Gaza and Israel. Obama also stated that he has many things to say about the Middle East after he starts to work officially as a president in the White House. President Bush kept on supporting the Israeli actions in Gaza claiming that this is done to assure the security of Israel. In Venezuela the Israeli ambassador was notified that he is not welcomed any more in the Venezuelan lands and that he is asked to leave the country with another six Israeli employees.  The French interference and opinion about Gaza war also changed; President Sarkouzi stated that the killing in Gaza must stop, and that Hamas must also stop launching missiles on the south of Israel. The French president visited Syria and Egypt yesterday to try to make an effect on all of those who can affect on both Israel and the Palestinians. The Turkish Prime Minister Ardoghan stated yesterday that history will remember Tsipi Levni and Ehud Olmert for their actions in Gaza.  He also said that he is the son of those who had protected the Jews when they were running away from persecution in the past. These statements express the Turkish anger of the Israeli actions in Gaza.

Simply the diplomatic situation is changing against Israel’s policy towards the Palestinians and is trying to create a kind of pressure on Israel to stop. The Middle East witnessed lot of actions recently to try to reach a solution and a cease fire between both sides. Europeans, Egypt, Turkey and many other Arabs countries are all active to stop the war in Gaza.

On One side Israel declared this evening from the Prime Minister’s office that it is interested in continuing the discussions about the last French-Egyptian suggestion for cease fire between Israel and the Palestinians. From the other side the Israeli security cabinet permitted for the Israeli army to continue its war in Gaza. The question is whether Israel is really concerned in the International community recommendation and decisions since it continues to violate many international laws in its war. Civilians keep on dying every day in Gaza and children cannot find a safe place to sleep in specially that even the United Nations buildings are also a target for the Israeli forces.

Today Israeli reports said that Israel suspects that Hamas leadership is hiding inside The Shefa’a hospital in Gaza. Some analysts fear that this was said to justify a new Israeli attack on a new civilians building that this time will kill those who were injured before because the Israeli attacks.

This latest actions by the Israelis is worrying and couldonly damage their image. But as has been prononced by their president, it matters not to the Israeli as they are not worried about their international image.
I feelits now the turn of the international community to provide him with a response. Venezuela has taken the lead by expelling the Israeli ambassador. If enough countries takes simillar steps, this then might send a strong message to the Israeli.
In the mean time, we sit and watch as children, women and other civilian gets murdered by this war machine that has no respect for human life.
One message i want to give to the world. The effect of this is very likely to radicalise people and any actions they take should be seen as a result of this action rather than anything to do with any religious teachings. Extremism are not a result of any cleric teachings but rather a result of this continued disrespect for human life and demonising anyone who does not share your vision.
