In the last couple days, the Israeli army strike several places in Gaza assassinating Palestinian leaders from the Jihad Islamic movement and other symbols of the Palestinian movements. The Israelis made it clear that they will continue assassinating and acting as long as the rockets will keep on falling on Sderot. From the other side, Hamas which controls now in Gaza also made it clear that its resistance and the military acts will keep on continuing as long as Israel is occupying Palestinian territories and also striking Gaza. These statements were said in the News, but if we look close enough to what really is going on then new results will pop out. Hamas now is isolated in Gaza, and the people there are living in the worst conditions they ever saw. The real reason for all the rockets that are being launched on Israeli targets, and also the threats to attack places inside the Israeli state, is or could be to prove that still Hamas and its allies in Gaza can take control and attack against any Israeli attacks. Israel does not mind starting any negotiations with Hamas, if they stop the launching of the rockets immediately, this was said by Shaul Mufaz yesterday. The Israelis understood that a military option such as occupying Gaza again won’t help but indeed cause a lot of casual losses. Hamas also understood that it’s the time now to start political actions in order to get itself outside of the isolation it is kept in, and that’s why Ismaeel Hanyeh stated yesterday that they are ready for a “Hudnah” which is a cease fire with conditions that are stopping all the Israeli acts against the Palestinians. From his side Abu Mazen is traveling around the world after the Annapolis Conference and Paris Conference to get as much as he can of support, sympathy, promises, and money support. Abu Mazen is not interested in any negotiations with Hamas at this time because they cause no danger for him in the West Bank, and at the meanwhile Israel is working on them in Gaza! But if we face the fact and look to the past for a moment, we can see that even if Hamas and Israel negotiate, they wont keep a cease fire for a long time, Israel will keep on planning and assassinating and Hamas will keep on bringing more weapons and prepare itself from the start, this cease fire could be used from the both sides as a period of preparations for the next round of fighting between them. And at the meanwhile who is the victim? The Palestinians that are living in Gaza and cant even get some Gaz for warming their houses and cooking their food. The Paris Conference is supposed to bring to the Palestinians a sum of 7.4 milliard dollars for starting new projects and improving the Palestinian situation but what should be done before is taking out the checkpoints that are making it impossible to the Palestinians to travel, making business and do what they are supposed to do everyday. If this time is not used as it is supposed to be used and peace wont improve forward, then this period will change to the silence period before the storm that will again destroy more than it once did.
