The Culture of Imperialism
“I cannot teach you violence, as I do not myself believe in it. I can only teach you not to bow your heads before any one even at the cost of your life.”
This is what Mahatma Gandhi once said about violence. Today the spreading culture is working upon half of this statement which is to deny violence and call those who act using it terrorists. I wonder what is said about occupation, and right of liberty.
The imperialistic community since the beginning of colonialism and the dividing of what it called the third world claimed that those people who demand their independence and liberty are ignorant and cannot take responsibility of their selves. Those who started revolutions to liberate their lands and their peoples from the foreign occupation and Imperialism were and still called terrorists. India, Algeria, Egypt, Sudan, Libya, and all the other countries in the Eastern part of the world started revolutions to liberate their selves. Some sacrificed thousands of their people, and others discovered a highest level method such as peaceful demonstration to fight their occupiers.
This division in describing the reaction of a people that lives in a land and get invaded is simply a war of culture and beliefs. Although the use of violence must not be an option, some great powers act using this option in facing their challenges in the race of controlling the world.
Realism which is the most spreading belief in the world was built on the thoughts of philosophers that believed in using anything to control and conquer. Leaders of great powers in these days are worse since they use liberalism to defend what they do on the bases of realism. They represent a Liberealism new method in dealing with foreign affairs, maintaining a continuous control, and staying hegemony. The liberal side is used in order to accuse other states of corruption and inability to be fixed, and here they present their needed help to lead these countries to democracy and prosperity. Once these countries react to defend their selves, the realism side is used to launch wars, defend the mother country security, and putting the peace option aside.
The obstacle that the great powers are facing these days and did not have in the past is that globalism in helping the residents of the third world to become educated and aware of the truth of what is going; this produces a generation that uses the same ideas and reasons that the great powers use to defend their actions.
The world should understand that the age of slavery and imperialism is about to end, therefore soon there will be no more heads to bow before them and exactly at this moment they will face the worst and biggest revolution in their time.
