Are They legitimate?

People say that once one can see that regime, the system, and the leaders are not legitimate anymore, then the trust between the people and the government is lost. While examining both the Palestinian and the Israeli governments, one can see that both governments are facing serious law obstacles since they could be not legitimate. The Palestinian president, the parliament, and both the temporary and resigned governments in the West Bank and Gaza are all not legitimate according to the Palestinian basic law.
The Palestinian President residency is supposed to be ended in a few months on January 2009. The Fatah government in Ramalla claims that the former Palestinian Parliament had already issued a law that includes instructions of making the next Presidential elections only with the next Parliament elections. Some politicians such as Hamas claimed that this is not legitimate and that Presidential elections must be held on January. The former Palestinian Parliament continued working for several years without any elections since Oslo agreement. This means that the council itself was not legitimate.
The meanwhile Palestinian Parliament lacks many of its members that are in Israeli prisons. This adds another questioning mark on any new law that could be issued. The temporary government in the west bank that was established by Mahmoud Abbas after resigning the Hamas government was supposed to continue on working only for thirty or forty days until new parliament elections to be held. Nothing was held and the same illegitimate government is still working and even recognized by the majority of the world. The resigned Hamas government in Gaza is still working without paying attention to the Presidential instructions and is recognized by several countries in the world that support the Hamas program and theories.
After reading these complications, one can say that none of the mentioned representing governments or President is legitimate. The reason for all of this chaos is a competition between the two major political parties in the Palestinians; Fatah and Hamas. The both parties are fighting for authority and are ready to speak for days to prove that they are legitimate. The truth is that the people lost faith in both of them because none of them brought any benefit for the Palestinian case at least since the last elections.
The Israeli government was newly resigned after Ehud Olmert resignation. Some say that Olmert was accused of corruption only because he did not satisfy the Israeli demands and view of the future with the Palestinian threat. However even in Israel you can hear voices claiming the loss of faith and trust in their leaders. This is the legitimization crisis that both the Israeli and the Palestinian governments are facing. This brings up a question about the real roots and reasons for this crisis.
