Olmert’s decision to go home…is it fair?
by Ziad Khalil Abu Zayyad ~ August 2nd, 2008. Filed under: international concerns. After a short challenge between the Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert and the Israeli community, again Israel proved that democracy is a game that can be played the way needed. Prime Minister Olmert stated that he will resign from his rank on September after the elections of the political party Kadema. The reason is the investigations held with him concerning the accusations of receiving money secretly from American Jews when Olmert used to be the Mayor of Jerusalem.
However it seems that the political line of the Olmert is the real reason behind all the trouble he suddenly found in his way to achieve any kind of agreements with the neighboring Arab countries. Talanski is an American Jew that stands behind the accusations. Talanski’s only reason for his sudden visit to the police and his decision to inform them about the money he gave to Olmert is that the he did not like the way Olmert spent the money he was given.
It is clear that someone is behind Talanski and all the work that was done against Olmert. However the Israeli Media did play an unfair role in this case as it always do when there is any kind of an accusation against anyone. Their claim is that it is their duty to bring to the citizens of this state everything that they should know, but they forget the damage that they cause to the man or woman that they write about and accuse because it is easy to make the people believe that someone did something wrong, but it is hard to make them believe again that he is innocent.
The observers say that the strongest Israeli leader that would succeed to come and replace Olmert is Binyamin Netanyahu which is the head of the Lekud Political party. Netanyahu is a non believer of peace with Arabs and his history is filled with agreements that were never accomplished. Yesterday Netanyahu said that the Israelis will refuse any kind of an agreement that Prime Minister Olmert would sign with Syria before he ends his period as a Prime Minister. This is a kind of the Israeli policy that is ready to neglect international agreements if they feel that it is not working upon their political agendas.
Olmert’s decision to resign and end the political chaos in Israel comes from a wise man that wants to arrange his house even if this means paying a personal price because the foreign challenges that are on their way to Israel are much bigger than a race on the chair in Israel.
