The Critical year for Critical Decisions

Israel said that Hezballah would know give more time for the planning of his attack that may come as a price for the assassinating of Emad Mughnyeh which was an important leader for them. The Hezballah made it clear that their fight won’t stop after the return of Sameer Kuntar, indeed they promised that they will keep on fighting Israel until Shebaa lands are returned to them and even the lands which are after Shebaa.
Israel is now in a critical year because of the power of Iran, Hezballah, and Hamas that surrounds it from all the directions. Some observers say that Iran is not wishing for any war with Israel and the United States of America at this stage, because their main need now is to obtain the needed Uranium and to continue in the building of their Nuclear Project. Russia is supporting Iran in the building of its projects because of the financial profits that it brings. Others say that the Russian policy is one of the tools that it is using to make a kind of pressure on the Americans that are trying to put missiles in East Europe.
The real question here is about whether the world is going again towards a dividing into East and West. To answer this question we should think about what if the situation was not the same as now and Russia is still the Soviet Union that is ready to support any country that goes against America. Cuba and China foe example were supported by the Soviets when they had the ability to support them, so if Russia regains its full power as it was once will they support Iran and other countries that want to fight and stand against the United States of America? This is a good question especially that at this time Russia is really returning to be a central and important player in the International community and its power equation.
Another element that would affect is the American inside situation that includes the presidential elections, the economical situation, and the public opinion that affects on the American decisions. However, the Iranian case is not an easy one for both the Israelis and the Americans because of the short time they have in order to prevent it from going forward. The reason simply is that if Iran will obtain any kind of a nuclear power, then the whole equation of the Middle East will change and this republic will become a major power that for the first time will create a balance of power and fear with Israel in this area.
