Politics prevent the liberating of Prisoners

In the last two days a lot of discussions were held about the Israeli kidnapped soldiers and the Palestinian and Lebanese prisoners that were asked to be released by Hamas and Hezbollah in order to return the Israeli soldiers.

The Israeli government refused to release any Palestinian prisoners in the Hezbollah deal but said that it may release some Palestinian prisoners as an encouragement to the Palestinian president Mahmoud Abbas.

 

It seems that Israel does not want to give Hezbollah credit to gain more popularity by releasing prisoners because of it. Nasrallah at this specific time is much stronger than he had been in the last period of clashes with the Lebanese government, this gave him the possibility again to stand up and slow any prisoners exchange with Israel.

From the other side Israel did not succeed in bringing back its kidnapped soldier Gelaad Shaleet in Gaza. The reason is that Israel does not want to give any legitimacy to the kidnapping of Israeli soldiers inside the occupied lands. 

 

Israel always worked upon the slow plan of exchanging prisoners with its enemies and the reason is not to encourage more kidnappings in the future. The Palestinians from their side tried to kidnap Israelis in the past and did the same in the present time in order to bring back some of their prisoners in Israel.

At the meanwhile only those who are the families of the prisoners in the both sides are those who are suffering while the political and strategic game keeps on going between all the sides.

 

Both of the Palestinians and the Israelis who are in prison now will be sent back home to their beloved either dead or life but the question is what did the all sides learn from this lesson. Do they really know what does it mean to be a prisoner and to lose liberty or they will keep on being a toy in the hands of politicians and decisions makers, and will those who are in charge understand that once they want to occupy or attack another people they will cause suffering for others who followed them.

 

Israel since the kidnapping of Gelaad Shaleet acted in Gaza with the extreme power and force in order to prove that nothing can prevent it from attacking people their. Some said that since these soldiers were kidnapped in a situation of war, they should be treated as prisoners of war and be allowed to meet the Red Cross, but what is their opinion about the thousands of Palestinians that are in Israeli prisons and are treated as criminals and terrorists instead of prisoners of war.

Liberty cannot be felt unless it is lost and this is the real lesson that every one that was or is in prison did really learn.
