A Partner for Peace or a Cooperator that always agrees?

After reading the last post that was written by my friend George Deek, I realized the importance of the point he brought up, and the expression “No Partner” took my attention. George in his post said that even the left side in Israel did not believe in the right of the Palestinians to represent their own selves and ask for their own demands. Instead of doing so, the Israeli lefties always tried to define and decide what the Palestinians want and must have.

Of course we are not talking about all of the left side in Israel or the elements and ordinary left people in which they represent the last hope for any chance of making peace in the Middle East, but on the other hand the true face of the left or moderate Israeli system works upon this strategy. A high percentage of the Israelis consider Arabs and Palestinians criminals, killers, and don’t have the ability to become an educated, cultured, and leaded people that know how to ask for their rights and also make their promises a truth.

The long history of violence between both the Israelis and the Palestinians made them lose faith in each other. This could be one reason why the Israelis or the lefties in Israel choose what to give and decide what can be given or whether if there is a partner on the other side. The question that they should ask their selves about is the definition of the partner that they want and whether if they will be able to accept him and work with him according to what he believes in and his people believes in.

Israel and the United States of America made a strong pressure on Yasser Arafat to accept the idea of giving Mahmoud Abbas authority to become a Prime Minister and even control so many sections of the Palestinian authorities because they believed he is the right Partner for making peace. After that Mahmoud Abbas became the Palestinian President and had a list in his hands that represent the Palestinian demands and the minimum that they would accept for the sake of making peace. This list included East Jerusalem, sixty seven boarders, and the right of the refugees.

The Americans and the Israelis changed their mind about him although they still negotiate with him. They stated that Mahmoud Abbas is a weak leader although they were the reason that he became weak. This made him a weak partner that cannot make decisions and assure the Israeli security. The true reason was that Abbas could not be appropriate to the Israeli idea of making an Israeli peace but not an Israeli Palestinian peace agreement that include hard decisions from the both sides and not one side.

Suffering and feeling no security could be reasons for a right side to make decisions such as depending on their selves to bring peace and security in order to achieve victory and one side made peace. Left side from the other side should have enough courage to make decisions that include risk and depending on a partner that include less than half of the properties that it seek.
