When Justice cannot be ignored anymore
The freedom flotilla events brought great pressure and criticism of Israel all around the world. The reactions varied between cutting diplomatic relations with [singlepic id=240 w=320 h=240 float=right] Israel, withdrawing the ambassador and even going to the UN Security Council to condemn Israel for the killing of the sixteen activists that were on the ships.
Israel decided to release all the activists that it imprisoned because of the pressure that it is facing in the international community. The Turkish government criticized Israel, accused it of state terrorism and threatened not to examine turkey’s patience. The United States government faced some complications in finding a statement that won’t affect its relations with its both allies; Turkey and Israel. Although the Israeli attack is clearly breaking many international law resolutions, the White House preferred in the beginning only to express its sorrow for the death of the activities.
The American position changed a little when it sent a sign that it may support an International investigation of the incident. President Hosni Mubarak ordered to open the Rafah borders between Egypt and Gaza without any kind of limitation. The Egyptians closed the borders since Hamas took control of Gaza. The Palestinian Authority and President Mahmoud Abbas ordered to send a team of Palestinian leaders from Fatah party to Gaza in order to try to put an end to the Palestinian division.
All these political changes are happening because of two main reasons: one is the Turkish success in becoming a leading power in the Middle East, and two is that whenever Israel attacks, Arabs seem to be more united. The Turkish support for the Palestinian state and the serious actions which it makes to support the Palestinian case made the Arab countries find themselves doing less than what can be accepted to support their fellow Arabs in the Palestinian territories. The embarrassment which the Arabs faced because of blind belief in the Arab Peace Initiative which Israel keeps on rejecting by attacking more Palestinians and continuing the occupation and siege on the Palestinian territories, made the Arab leaders become less supporters of the Palestinian case than anyone else around the world.
The Turkish ambitions to become a leading country in the Middle East are finding great success because of the Turkish efforts and support to the Palestinian case. Turkey is an important country in the area because of its alliance with the United States, its effect on the countries in the region and its ambitions that may seriously make it a competing state. The Israeli continuous attacks, refusal to compromise anything and terrorism act of killing innocent activists and Palestinians made it lose everything. Israel today is in one of its worst diplomatic situations since the entire world is standing on one side and it stands on the other. The support that the Palestinian case is receiving today is more than any time in the past.
The Israeli actions are not only showing the truth of who is a believer of peace and who wants only the use of force, but also is brining new changes in the area which may change the whole map of balance of power in the region.

This vice president of the US Mr Biden should take retirement. He either has severe memory problem or early Alzheimers disease. In his interview about the investigation to the flotilla disaster. He replied that Israel should investigate along with other international player. He then goes on to say “just like the south Korean investigated the torpedo incident along with international corperation”. Well Mr Biden, South Korea was the victim. Thats true and its right that they should investigate. So if we are to be consistent, then Turkey should be investigating along with International community and not Israel as the administration you represent is calling for.
