Following the Iranian agreement on the nuclear fuel swap deal, Iranian President Ahmadi Najad asked from the world powers to consider the Iranian [singlepic id=191 w=260 h=180 float=right] agreement a good Iranian intention that should lead to new talks with Iran.
The deal states that Iran agrees to swap 1200 kg of its low enriched uranium for higher enriched nuclear fuel that will be used in the Iranian medical research reactor. Turkey will host the exchange and will supervise on the whole process. The efforts of both Brazil and Turkey resulted in the Iranian agreement which is still not clear.
In the Past the Iranians refused such swap deals unless it is made on its territories and refused to connect between the Western accusations that it is developing nuclear weapons and the Iranian agreement on any similar deals. Until the moment neither Washington nor any of the Western powers commented on the Iranian agreement with Turkey. At the same time the Iranians are demanding from the West to start a new round of negotiations with them since the latter proved that it wants to reach an understanding with the West regarding its nuclear programs.
Although the world powers suggested similar deals in the past, the Iranians refused them because of their demand that the deal must be made on the Iranian soil. Until the moment the United States President is still committed to the diplomatic choice and refuses to use any other choice while dealing with the Iranian ambitions to obtain nuclear powers. The change in the Iranian policy holds several meanings which one of them is to mind any direct confrontation with the United States at the moment. Recently Israel and other army expert voices have asked from the current American administration to reconsider its policy with Iran. Other several analysts inside the U.S and the rest of the world published a report stating that President Obama’s current policy is encouraging Iran and others to continue forward in trying to obtain nuclear powers.
[singlepic id=192 w=320 h=240 float=left]These claims and demands are creating a pressure on the White House administration to start preparing for a possible confrontation with the Iranians if the latter continues forward in its nuclear plans. The Iranian agreement on the deal mentioned is similar to North Korea’s actions in the past which several times reached agreements with the U.S then changed its opinion and continued forward with its nuclear programs until it finally obtained nuclear powers.
The Iranians are active in both the political and the military fields. On one side they continue to move forward in their nuclear plans while also preparing themselves for a possible confrontation with the U.S and Israel. On the other side they are active politically and try to direct their crises with the West in order to gain enough time for their projects. The Iranian determination to obtain nuclear powers comes from the threat it lived in the last several years in which the Middle East was and continues to be controlled by one nuclear power: Israel. The rising competition in the Middle East to obtain weapons and nuclear powers seems to be closer to reality than any kind of agreement that would make the Middle East empty of nuclear weapons.
