Rajmohan Gandhi visits the Palestinian territories

The grandson of the Indian leader Mahatma Gandhi has visited the Palestinian territories to participate in organized tours made to the Palestinian villages [singlepic id=162 w=320 h=240 float=right]and to see the Israeli occupation in his own eyes.
After visiting several Palestinian villages which are under Israeli siege, Rajmohan Gandhi stated that he believes the Israeli settlements and separation wall will disappear.

Gandhi also stated that it is his duty to awaken the International community from its slumber and that he will contribute in the effort to support the Palestinian people’s just cause. While Gandhi and his wife were visiting one of the Palestinian villages, an argument started between Gandhi’s wife and one of the Israeli soldiers who were standing in their way.

Gandhi also stated that Bil’in daily activities and demonstrations against the Israeli separation wall became an international model for the nonviolence resistance. Al Mubadara that is leaded by Dr. Mustafa Barghouti arranged Gandhi’s visit to the Palestinian territories.
Gandhi’s visit is considered important since it shows a kind of support to the legitimate Palestinian resistance that is taking place in many Palestinian territories that are under daily Israeli attacks. Many villages which surround Bethlehem, Ramalla and other cities of the West Bank witness daily demonstrations against the Israeli settlements policy and separation wall that is turning the Palestinian life into a hell and preventing them from implanting their lands.

Lately the Israeli army issued a new order that does not allow any kind of Palestinian demonstrations in the Palestinian villages Bil’in and Ni’lin. The Israeli army considers both villages and several others a military closed area on Fridays to try to prevent the Palestinians from demonstrating against the separation wall and Israeli settlements.

Beside this order the Israeli army formed unique units called “Mestareveem” to try to imprison the young Palestinians while they demonstrate. These Israeli units try to show themselves as Palestinians and participate in the demonstrations in order to capture Palestinian activists without noticing them.

The International law assures the right of any people who is under occupation to resist for its rights. The International law also states that any country that occupies any land such as East Jerusalem and the West Bank is not allowed to make any changes in it or to move any of its population to the occupied land.
