Israel’s Policy and the idea of A One State solution

It seems that the Israeli leadership finds it hard to accept any kind of commitment to stop the settlements in East Jerusalem and Israel’s Policy and the idea of A One State solution 148 320x240 westbank en the occupied West Bank. Prime Minister Netanyahu’s government does not agree on any kind of settlements freeze in East Jerusalem. Instead Prime Minister Netanyahu stated that the current Israeli government will continue to build in East Jerusalem exactly as the former Israeli leaders who have been building in the city since forty two years.

The Israeli leadership claims that it made a great effort for the sake of peace by freezing the settlements in the West Bank for ten months. Although the freeze for ten months did not succeed in changing the situation, the Israeli parties which form the Israeli government are against the decision. Israeli settlers continue to invade Palestinian territories, attack Palestinian properties, and target Palestinians who live beside their settlements.

The Two states solution seems to be impossible; Oslo agreements assured for the Palestinians that they will be given a chance to establish their future state on the 1967 occupied lands. The final cases such as East Jerusalem, the refugees, the prisoners, and the borders were supposed to be discussed and solved within five years on the bases of mutual compromises from the two sides. Former Prime Minister Yitzhak Rabin was assassinated by Israeli extremists who accused him of betrayal because he thought of compromising for the sake of Israel’s security through a peace agreement. Israeli leaders who came after Rabin accused former President Yasser Arafat of being a terrorist and then continued to use the claim of finding no partner in the Palestinian side.

Israeli claims changed from time to time until President Abu Mazen won the elections, applied the quarter’s demands and succeeded in preventing any kind of attack against Israel. The whole formation of the Palestinian authority was changed. Most of Fatah old members were removed from their commanding ranks. The Palestinian security forces were all rebuilt under a continuous American supervision. Most of the Israeli claims which were made about the security of Israel became inconvenient. Despite all the Palestinian efforts which made the Palestinian leadership lose many supporters who were criticizing it for making great efforts for the sake of satisfying the Israeli needs and getting nothing in exchange, Israel did nothing. Instead the Israeli leadership brain washed the Israeli people with ideas about the importance of using force to assure Israel’s security, Jerusalem as a great united capital of Israel, God’s promise for the Israeli people to control the whole land and that there is no real strong partner within the Palestinians to make peace with.

Israeli leaders continued to build settlements in the Palestinian territories, imprison more Palestinians everyday, enforce the oppression and apartheid policy against Palestinians who live in East Jerusalem, and race to assure that the whole historical land of Palestine will stay under Israel’s control. The real result is an Israeli loss; the two states solution became impossible. The Palestinians will stay in the land but it will be impossible to create any kind of a Palestinian state which can really be independent. Instead Israel will find itself in the next twenty years more engaged with the Palestinians and will have to take responsibility of their existence within lands which became occupied by Israeli settlers.

This situation will find one last solution which Israel will have to accept; a One state solution. This solution will give the Israelis a one state solution formed of two nationalities. This solution will erase the dream of a Jewish state and will oblige its leadership to accept of the idea of equality in rights between the citizens.

The Palestinians will not have any problem with such a solution since the Palestinian movements demanded for this solution since the sixties. Those who will refuse this idea and find themselves paying the price of their former Israeli leaders’ mistakes will be the future Israeli leadership.

Look guys, the problem is not that simple. I think that the most opposing leaders to this solution are the Arabs themselves, who actualy don’t accept the right of Israel to even exist.
