Lessons in Leadership XXIIII – Fear and Suffering

Three things, which are connected to each other, are Pain, Suffering, and Fear. One of the things, which our mind is great in making us live with, is Fear. [singlepic id=141 w=320 h=240 float=right]Usually a certain experience affects us. Once we fail in something we feel a kind of pain that we live in for a while.
Some of us continue to live with pain and turn it into suffering which never ends. Suffering becomes a part of these people’s life and never ends. The overreaction results in destroying the life of the person, which is suffering until he or she loses hope in everything.

The funny thing is that the whole process starts with one single incident. The effect of one experience starts to affect the rest of everything we do and think of. Fear comes as a result of the process of creating suffering out of pain. Even those who succeed in overcoming their pain may face fear every once and a while.

Leaving a bad experience without a closing is one of the reasons that invest in creating more fears in our life. Fear is something that always exists and would show up suddenly whenever we feel insecure. Even great people that seem to be strong and protected may fall and become prisoners of their own fears. They start by feeling that they may be not good enough. The usual questions, which they ask themselves, are why did they fail? What was wrong with them? Aren’t they good enough? Are others better?

To calm you down I would like you to know that everyone is exposed to such threats. The most important thing is in finding the way back to security and peace within. First of all we must accept that fact that fear is something which cannot be removed completely from our life. It is okay to feel fear but it is important to learn how to use it instead of letting it use us. Fear should be something that we use in order to find out what could be a danger that may affect us. After that we should use our mind and heart to study this danger and find out whether it is only a block in our way that was created because of a failure we passed through in the past or it is a real danger that we must be aware of.

Using our mind, heart, and self is something that needs a lot of training. The training starts in changing the way we deal with pain and suffering. No pain should be turned into suffering. It is okay to feel pain for a while and to give our emotions a chance to be expressed but this process should have an end. After feeling the pain we must immediately start remembering all the other good things we have and the many times we succeeded in. We usually prefer to remember our failures and forget to appreciate ourselves for the good things we do. Everything good that we do must be acknowledged by us; nothing is not important.

Once we succeed in creating a shield that is made of everything good we did, we may succeed in facing any kind of pain and turning it into a temporary experience that becomes a source for learning about the future. We become controllers instead of being controlled. Our decisions will be made out of the abilities and strength we have instead of the fear that we face.

“A decision made from fear is always the wrong decision.” ~ Tony Robbins.
