Israel and Syria…Making Peace or Having a Break?

The future always hides surprises for us especially when we are talking about politics in the Middle East. Recently Syria and Israel had a nice story going on between them that may not be as nice as it looks.
Israel as it always used to be is being smart in its way of treating things concerning the Syrian problem. The smartest State or leadership is the one that tries everything before going to war. The diplomatic way is always better than the use of force. Who had ever thought that peace could be made with Egypt and Jordan after the sixty seven war and the seventies war?
Always Israel was considered as an enemy for all the Arabs but suddenly some Arabs preferred sitting and talking with it although Israel didn’t promise them anything concerning Jerusalem and the Palestinians.
Israel has always wished to make peace with all its neighbors in order not to face danger from the first line that surrounds it.
Egypt and Jordan had made peace with Israel. Lebanon at these days includes two directions that one of them is pretty close to the United States and the policy of making peace with Israel, and the other direction is closer to Syria and its vision of the need of using force to retrain all the occupied lands from Israel because history proved that nothing could be brought back by peace. This means that the only country that didn’t make peace with Israel and also controls those who fight Israel such as Hezballah and Hamas is Syria.
Israel got bust handling its inside problems such as the Palestinians and forgot about making peace with Syria, and this gave a real chance for Iran to become closer to Syria and affect its policy. Now Israel is facing a real danger because of the strong unity that is between Iran, Syria, Hamas, and Hezballah in which all of them surrounds the Hebrew state from all the directions.
This alarmed the Israeli politicians that it is time to put an end for the growth of this real danger that could result in the future of giving birth to a power that could become wider and stronger in the Middle East.
Israel does not want to face Syria in any way or to open war with it because their measurements show that the danger is not only from it but also from its allies. The proof is that even after striking the nuclear small project that Syria was building, the Israeli government did everything it can to prevent the Syrian President from taking a decision of attacking back Israel to prove that he is still standing and ready to fight. This was done by sending him a useful message that Israel is ready to withdraw from the Syrian occupied lands in order to make peace with it, and this message was really used by the Syrian government to show that their policy did bring back a result from Israel.
The question is whether this period is only temporary because it was useful for the both enemies at this time and will soon vanish or really there would be a good chance to achieve anything new towards peace in Qorder to prevent a war that will happen for sure if the situation keeps on being in this status.

I read this development - especially the leaking by Syria - as a way by which Syria wants to raise its price versus Iran.

I do believe that Syria wont risk and leave Iran in which this country is an old friend. Syria could play a game but will keep its relation and unity with Iran strong.

Which means, of course, that there is no chance of any peace agreement between Israel and Syria.

“It is naïve to think Syria would behave foolishly and abandon its strategic alliances with Iran and Hizbullah, which are not limited solely to the Israeli-Arab conflict but also touch on topical geopolitical issues. These strategic associations are for the long term,” so proclaimed Dr. Samir Taqi on Tuesday.
