Lessons in Leadership VIII – Time and Outcome

Time is very important for us since most of what we do in our life depends on it. After attending several seminars which Tony Robbins held and reading some of what he introduces to us about time, stress, and the way we live, I thought of writing something about it.
“Stress is an ignorant state. It believes that everything is an emergency.” This is something which Tony said about a state which we put ourselves in. The common way of directing our life is by categorizing what we have to do into things which are either important to do, important and urgent, urgent but not important, and neither important nor urgent. Stress is a situation in which we find ourselves making so much effort to achieve what we have to do but we continue to feel that we are not doing everything we have to do.

The first step into preventing ourselves from failing is by minding ourselves from going into a stress situation. This can be done by considering everything we have to do important while remembering that nothing should be urgent. This may sound weird but imagine if you are doing everything you have to do while feeling comfortable and of course not under any kind of stress.

Start directing your life upon this plan by changing the way your mind defines everything you do or participate in. This can be done by going over everything you do and checking the outcome which you get from it. There are many things which we commit ourselves to do daily without knowing that we get nothing out of them. We continue to do these things because we are used to do them. It is hard to give examples because people differ from each other but let us say for example that someone is used to do what he has to do only if he wakes up in the morning and tells himself that he is under stress; this creates a kind of a reason which pushes this person to work more. However, this does not work with everyone and eventually causes a collapse since everything you do will be done only because you have to do it.

On the other side, let us take another example of someone who wakes up in the morning and tells himself that work is never over and that he should enjoy everything he has to do whether it is work, or family obligations, or commitments. The way he or she will work will bring a better outcome and the way he or she will feel while doing this will be much better.

The next thing which you will have to do is to sit down and ask yourself about everything you do; is it really what you want to do in your life? And what is the outcome which you want to get out of everything you do? It is possible that you may find out that you are not doing what you really want to do. It is ok if you go back to your childhood and fantasize about the dreams which you wanted to make them become true when you were child. Life, difficulties, and what we call obligations makes us forget who we really are and the essence which used to inspire us and make us love what we do. The goal of this procedure is to try to regain a lost feeling which could give us the power needed to achieve more than what we expect from ourselves.

After finding out what you really want to do, try to connect this with the outcome which is resulting from your current actions. Is this outcome serving you to reach your goal? If yes then you are on the right track, if not then you need to think of other ways for reaching this outcome. The question of who we are and the importance of achieving what we want instead of what others or “Life” wants from us is really important because most of us are not living according to their way of living.

Something which could help you in achieving more is thanking yourself for what you already did until today. Thank yourself because we usually forget to remind ourselves about the good things we do and we ALWAYS blame ourselves for anything wrong which we may do. This is something that happens to a lot of us and could become a serious reason which prevents us from going on and trying more than one time to achieve what we want.

  1. I had now been twice to Anthony Robbins “Free the inner strength” (UPW) in London and if I can say it’s a great experience – you simply come back with much more energy! You get to know really great people there and experience a very special weekend. So, I can only recommend to try it out yourself! Quite a lot of information provided at http://www.anthonyrobbins.de
    Luck for all!
