Why People in the Middle East does not want Peace…

In the last post “The Way to Peace…or War…” I mentioned that the truth is that the people in the Middle East and specially those who live the Israeli Arabic conflict are not concerned in peace as it looks in the Media. What proves this is the way Israelis and Palestinians acted in the last few years. The Israelis elected Ariel Sharon even though they knew that the kind of peace he believed in is different than the Peace that others wanted. Ariel Sharon said it clearly that Peace can be brought to the Israelis only by using force and violence to maintain security for Israel and teach the Palestinians a good lesson about not to mess with Israel. This proves in a way or another that the majority in Israel was only concerned about their security and didn’t care for what was going on in the Palestinian territories. The only Peace movement that was established in the Israeli community was the “Peace Now” that until these days didn’t become bigger or even had the ability to go into the Knesset. The Palestinians found out that Peace negotiations can bring nothing after a long period of work since Oslo until the Aqsa Intifada. This resulted in affecting the people’s choice in the elections that brought Hamas into the Palestinian Parliament with a majority. The real serious damage that was done to both the Israeli and the Palestinian community and people is not only the victims, but also the cultural and educational systems that changed to be extreme. The religious background, the culture, and the educational system do teach each of the two sides that they are owners of the Palestine land and that God is with them. This makes it worse when we are dealing with two communities that are related to this land because of their religion and belief, so how could a Jew agree on giving this land to a Muslim, and how could a Muslim imagine making Peace without liberating the Haram and Aqsa Mosque in Jerusalem.Even the United States would prefer to keep on a good relation with Israel instead of affecting it in order to satisfy the Arabs that already work upon its agenda. So how come Peace become a reality with all of these obstacles; only hard work and wise leaders could make a change that will need a long time until PEACE become a reality.
