Same Policy..Different Faces

April 2nd, 2009 > Ziad Khalil Abu Zayyad

In his first day in office, Lieberman, who is the new foreign affairs Israeli minister, stated that those who want peace must prepare for war. Lieberman statement was considered an extreme step which should not be made on the first day and by a foreign affairs minister.
Tsipi Levni, who did not join the new government, stated that she did not agree on becoming a minister in Netanyahu’s government because of such statements and policy. Employees at the ministry stated that this statement will not bring Israel any benefit and it will only cause more embarrassment for it. They said that even if this is a policy which Israel should follow, it must not be declared for the world.
The new Israeli government is made by a majority of the right political parties who do not agree on any kind of compromise for the sake of a peace agreement. Netanyahu, who is the new Israeli prime minister, stated in a surprising act that he is willing to make peace with the Palestinians. However, he did not mention anything about the two states solution and continued to talk about the importance of empowering the Palestinian economy.
Netanyahu seems to work upon a policy which considers the Palestinian case an issue of providing a better economy and to separate them from the Israeli community. Netanyahu continues to talk about economy while he ignores the fact that the former Israeli governments destroyed it to create a kind of pressure on the Palestinians to surrender to the Israeli conditions. The chaotic situation in the West Banka and Gaza, which he claims is a main reason that prevents any kind of a Palestinian state, is made by Israel.
The new Israeli government does not differ from the former one since both of them hold the same policy towards the Palestinians. The only difference is that this time the Israeli officials are more direct about what they want to do regarding the Palestinians. The policy of ignoring the existence of the Palestinians, creating more pressure on the Palestinian population, preventing them their basic human rights, and threatening to use force against them will only bring Israel more trouble.
This conflict will never be solved without giving the Palestinians their rights. Israel was built by force on lands of Palestinians, and now Israel refuse the compromise which the Palestinians and the Arabs are ready to make for the sake of a real peace agreement.
The pressure and use of force which many former Israeli leaders thought will bring victory and security for Israel caused it more sorrow and victims. The Palestinians will never be moved to live in another land and the only solution is by giving them the right of ruling themselves, getting back the 1967 occupied lands, and East Jerusalem. Israelis claim that the Palestinians are not ready for true peace because they cannot compromise regarding Jerusalem and the refugees. The question is how far the Palestinians should go with the issue of compromise while Israel never offered a true peace offer since the beginning of the conflict.
Considered the land of Palestine a land which was given by God only for Jews to live and rule in, is an idea which will only bring destruction for Israel. The Palestinian people have been living in Palestine and Jerusalem since hundreds of years, and therefore they have the right o be in this land more than those who were brought from around the world to colonize a land which their eyes never saw.

Indeed, Israel was created by force upon the lands of Palestine..and the government will always ignore the existence of Palestine..till one day, it will be blinded and will be forced to realize and accept Palestine for the nation it is.
And, Palestinians have every right to their land, far more than the Jews have rights to our land.
