The Gaza War

Lately almost all the Israeli media is publishing reports about the Israeli will to start a real huge military campaign and occupy Gaza again. Since the Israeli last withdrew from Gaza and the settlements around it, Israel did not occupy Gaza in a way complete way but still its military activities did continue in other ways.The real pressure that made the Israeli government think seriously of this action is the continuous launching of missiles on Sderot which is an Israeli small village close to Gaza.Hamas continues in its military activities saying that these are considered as a response on the Israeli attacks and activities against Palestinians in the West Bank and Gaza. Yesterday serious preparations started in the lines of the Israeli army but still the political men refused to discuss the operation in public fearing that the information would reach Hamas and give it a chance to prepare its defense lines.Some analysis said that the reason that Israel didn’t start a strong military action in Gaza and occupy it again is the existence of the kidnapped Israeli soldier Gelad Shaleet inside Gaza. They say that this operation could only happen after the Prisoners deal, Israel and Hamas are working on. From the other side, others said that the pressure that is made on the Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert because of the last casualties in Sderot made him risk the life of the kidnapped soldier and decide to start this operation soon.From the other side the results of such an act in Gaza could cost the two sides a lot; this area contains a high number of civilians that live in a small area and this will cause the death of hundreds of people in each time a tank or a jet strikes this area. Also Hamas fighters have a lot of weapons that can be used in this face to face battle and can change it into a street fight that will cause high casualties in the Israeli army.Since Hamas became in charge in Gaza, and almost all the world boycotted them except of several countries, the diplomatic solution became impossible, and this left no other choice for the both sides to return again to the use of violence so Israel could defend its citizens that are originally not from Sderot and Hamas can stay connected to its beliefs and the promises that it gave to the Palestinians in Gaza and caused the death of their beloved and relatives, so will it be easy to change their beliefs.
